Eneloop batteries do not suffer from the high rate of self discharge standard NiMH batteries, if an eneloop battery is fully charged an then put in storage, after 6 months the battery will still have approximately 90% capacity, after 12 months - approximately 85% of its original capacity. Compare this with standard NiMH batteries that would have approximately 75% after 6 months storage and around 0% after 12 months, the benefits can easily be seen.

These AAA size batteries have a high capacity of 800mAh making them ideal for use in modern high drain digital equipment as well as other equipment including: remote controls, clocks, alarm clocks, radios, electronic games and computer keyboards and mice, previously unsuitable for standard NiMH batteries.

The Sanyo eneloop battery is an improved NiMH battery, and can be charged in the same way as standard NiMH batteries. This means that they can be charged in standard NiMH battery chargers but is must be stressed that the quality of the charger used can have a great impact on the life time of your eneloop battery.
