Alkaline Alkaline AA batteries are non-
rechargeable so once the
battery runs down they need
to be replaced. They are
rated at 1.5 Volts and are
commonly used in everyday
applcations such as toys,
torches and remote controls
Lithium Primary Lithium AA cells are
non-rechargeable and rated
at 3 or 3.6 Volts. Commonly
used for long term stand-by
applications such as memory
back-up and dive computers.
NiCd NiCd (Nickel Cadmium) AA batteries are rechargeable and are rated at 1.2V. NiCd is a relatively old technology and are being replaced by NiMh batteries. They are very robust and commonly used in hobby and cordless phone applications.
NiMh NiMh (Nickel Metal-Hydride) AA batteries are rechargeable and are rated at 1.2V. NiMh batteries can be used to replace Alkaline batteries. Can be recharged up to 500 times saving money over standard Alkaline batteries. Excellent for High drain electronic equipment such as Digital cameras, CD players, MP3 players and other Digital equipment.
